Fed forum to address foreclosures in Wisconsin

On March 13, 2008, the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, the University of Wisconsin Extension, and Wisconsin Housing and Economic Development Authority (WHEDA) will co-sponsor an event to focus on the problems wrought by foreclosures in Wisconsin.
The event will serve as the joint plenary meeting for three separate task forces that are working on building an effective community response. The three task forces are:
The Options and Outreach Task Force, which is working together to provide appropriate, timely, quality information to Wisconsin consumers about their options when facing delinquency and the potential foreclosure of their home.
The Stabilization & Maintenance Task Force, which is identifying solutions for creating and implementing a solid, post-purchase program for Wisconsin homeowners that will help stabilize the homeowner's financial position and assist with the long-term maintenance of their home.
The Financial Options & Strategies Task Force, which is exploring additional short-and long-term financial options and strategies that may be needed in Wisconsin to complement existing solutions to prevent foreclosure.
The March 13 event will enable the three task forces to come together, so participants can identify best practices, partnerships, and information sharing arrangements that can be implemented by their own organization to address Wisconsin's increasing number of foreclosures.
Conference participants will be include community development professionals, financial industry practitioners, bankers, pro bono attorneys, economists, housing experts, secondary market specialists, policymakers, researchers, academics and representatives of government agencies and foundations.
